There are many reasons why you might want to create channels.

• You can use channels to organize your favorite online videos, either for your own personal satisfaction or to share with friends. Think of them like iTunes playlists for YouTube videos.
• If you publish your own video blog, you can create a channel featuring all of your posts, in the correct order, and share it with your subscribers. Since you can update your channel at any time, you can keep adding new posts as you make them.
• If you frequently post videos on your website or blog, consider creating a channel of videos, and then embed the channel in your website. You can always update the contents of the channel from Vidista, but you never have to change your website code.
• And many more... but it's up to you!

To create a new channel, click on the "Create a Channel" button in the left panel, directly below the list of channels.

You will have the opportunity to give your channel a title, a description, a privacy level, and a playlist. Only a title is initially required, since you can change and edit your channel at any time.

Once you have given your channel a title, make sure you click the "Save" button at the bottom of the left panel, beneath the "Channel privacy" options. You will see your channel appear in your list of channels after you have saved it for the first time.

A channel playlist is an ordered collection of videos that make up your channel. While you are creating or editing a channel, you can see your playlist in the bottom panel. In order to add videos to your channel, you will need to drag and drop videos from your Library into your channel playlist. Remember to save your channel, or your changes will not take effect.

To remove videos from a channel you are currently creating or editing, select the video you wish to remove by single-clicking on it, then click on the "Delete from Playlist" option listed along the right side of the bottom panel. The selected video will disappear from your playlist, though the change will not take effect until you save your channel.

The order of your videos matters in that users who watch your channel are likely to browse through it using the Vidista navigation controls. If you embed a channel in another website, users will not even have the option of skipping directly to a specific video in your playlist. However, if you are creating a channel for your own enjoyment, it's up you whether or not to organize it.

Vidista offers three different "Channel privacy" options: "Public," "Private," and "Personal." This setting determines who has permission to watch your channel.

• Public channels can be viewed by anyone, whether or not they have signed up for Vidista. Public channels may appear in the list of popular or recent channels, and anyone who lists you as a Favorite user will be able to see all of your public channels. Only public channels will play if embedded in a website or blog.
• Private channels can only be viewed by users whom you have selected as Friends on Vidista. All of your Friends will be able to watch all of your private channels. A Friend must be registered with Vidista and logged in to view your private channels.
• Personal channels are for your eyes only, and you will only be able to watch them while you are logged in to Vidista. Sometimes it is a good idea to save a channel as a personal channel until you have finished editing it, and then release it as either a public or private channel.

You can make changes or edit your channel at any time after you create it. To edit your channel, simply select it from your list of channels in the left panel, and the same title, description, and privacy fields will appear at the bottom of the left panel. You can drag and drop more videos into your channel, rearrange the order, delete videos, edit the title or description, and change the privacy level. Make sure you save your channel after you have finished editing it, or your changes will not take effect.

To save changes to your channel at any time, click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the left panel. If you don't see the "Save" button or any of the other channel fields, make sure you have selected your channel in your list of channels. If you are saving a new channel for the first time, you will see the channel appear in your list of channels.

If you made changes to your channel but forgot to click the "Save" button at the bottom of the left panel before moving on, your changes will not have been saved. Vidista will remind you to save your changes if you select a different channel before saving, but if you navigate away from Vidista your changes will be lost.

If you edit your channel and decide not to save the changes, click on a different channel and, when prompted to save your changes, simply choose "Cancel."

To delete a channel that you originally created, select the channel in your list of channels, and then click on the "Delete" button at the very bottom of the left panel, next to the "Save" button. Your channel will be permanently deleted.
